I am grateful for the starting of a new year. I feel like in the classroom we get two fresh starts, one when the school year starts and one when the calendar changes to January. I am so excited for the students to return to our classroom, our Kingdom of Learning. We had a major shift in our classroom over the break, which the students helped with before they left. Thanks to the volunteer efforts of Mrs. Romney, her two daughters, my sister and Ms. McClure for getting the building opened for us we have a new classroom, a new realm in which to learn, grow, and enjoy. The students will be walking into a fresh, organized and open spaced classroom. We have officially transitioned to flexible seating. I am so blessed to have had the influence of many educational bloggers over the last 3 years who I've read and studied up about flexible seating, and their experiences with making it a reality in their classrooms. The seed was planted in my mind that this was the direction that our classroom needed to go. After talking with the students earlier in the fall about this idea and getting their input I submitted a grant. Although the grant was not initially funded we owe a HUGE thank you to Granite Credit Union who did fund our grant. I think the students are going to enjoy their new space. I know I am already loving it! Thanks to all the individuals who had a role in making this happen!
